Car Wash Fundraiser
Colonial Heights Gas-n-Go
July 15, 2006
As was done with the spaghetti lunch back on May 28th, our church family blessed us once again by sponsoring a car wash is Ruby's honor. The car wash was scheduled to take place at the Food City parking lot in Colonial Heights from 8:00 am till 2:00 pm.
The young people from our church have helped us in ways too numerous to mention. They were with us again for the car wash and worked so hard for the donations that came in to help us bring Ruby home. They did an outstanding job (again), and we'd love it if you would take a few minutes to see some of the pictures taken from the event. Thank you Lighthouse for ALL your help and kindness. Thanks also go out to friends and family members who were so wonderful in hekping out with the event. Note the two girls with the big smiles washing the gray truck. That was Jada and her good friend Abbey Grace "putting the cleaning" to the truck. (Click on the thumbnails to the left to open a larger picture in a new window)
The weather forecast was for 50% chance of showers all day. The Lord blessed us with an awesome day that kept cars steadily coming in all day, with a minimum of cars having to wait. At 2:00 pm, there were still cars coming, so we kept washing. There were also SO many cars that simply drove up and held money out their window to us and said they didn't want a car wash. Bless you!
The cars finally stopped coming about 3:00 (the bank thermometer across the street showed the temperature to be degrees), so we began to put away the car washing supplies. About that time, large, black rain clouds quickly came rolling in from the west and when we pulled out of the parking lot at 3:45 pm, the sprinkles were beginning. A wonderful and much needed rain continued after that for several hours. God's timing is ALWAYS perfect.
We will be sure to let you know as soon as we have ANY updates from our agency about when we might be traveling to China to bring our precious Ruby home. Please pray for her safety and health until that day.
